Delete your account

Effective October 1, 2026

You can delete your Gatherings account and its associated data from inside the app, at any time, without contacting us.

The short version

How to request deletion

In the Gatherings app:

  1. Open the Profile tab.
  2. Open Account.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm when prompted. The app will show you the date your account is erased.

If you can't sign in to the app, email privacy@gatheringsapp.com from the address on your account and we'll process the request for you. We may need to confirm you control the account before erasing it.

The 30-day grace period

Deletion is not instant, on purpose — it protects you from losing your account by accident or to someone else acting on your device. For 30 days after you request deletion, your account is marked for erasure and you can cancel by signing in and choosing Cancel deletion. Some data, such as your social connections, is erased as soon as you ask, and cancelling does not bring it back. When the 30 days elapse, erasure of the rest runs automatically and cannot be undone.

What is deleted, and what we keep

DataWhat happens
Profile — display name, profile tags, account record, linked sign-in providers Erased at the end of the grace period.
Profile photo Removed from your profile at the end of the grace period.
Content you posted in gatherings Erased. Note this content is already deleted automatically within 24 hours of posting, independently of account deletion.
Music taste profile and song requests Erased.
Social connections and gathering membership history Erased.
Your name on a host's door list (the entries your check-ins created) Erased.
Activity-day records (usage counts) Erased.
Push notification device tokens Erased.
Pseudonymous usage analytics Not erased with your account today. They carry no name or email.
Deletion audit record Kept for 3 years. This contains no personal data — only a one-way hashed account reference, timestamps, and what triggered the deletion. We are required to be able to show that erasure took place.
Records we must retain by law Kept only where a legal obligation requires it, and only for as long as that obligation lasts.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You don't have to delete your whole account to remove things:

You can ask for a copy of your data before deleting — email privacy@gatheringsapp.com.
