Delete your data

Effective October 1, 2026

You can have your Gatherings data deleted without deleting your account. Most of it already deletes itself.

How to request data deletion

Email privacy@gatheringsapp.com from the email address on your Gatherings account.
Tell us what you want deleted — for example "my music taste profile", "my song requests", or "everything except my account".
We may ask you to confirm you control the account, so that nobody else can delete your data.
We complete the request and confirm by email. We respond within 30 days.

Your account stays active and you can keep using Gatherings. If you want the account itself removed as well, use Delete your account instead.

Everything you post in a gathering — thoughts, posts and comments — is deleted automatically within 24 hours of posting. You don't need to ask.
Ghost Mode lets you take part without sharing your location or photo; your posts show as Anonymous. Use it if the goal is privacy rather than deletion.

Data	On request
Gathering content you posted	Deleted. Already automatic within 24 hours of posting.
Music taste profile and song requests	Deleted. Your music recommendations reset.
Gathering membership history	Deleted.
Social connections	Deleted.
Profile details — display name, profile photo, profile tags	Removed or reset. A display name is needed to use the app, so we reset rather than blank it.
Push notification device tokens	Deleted. Turning off notifications on your device also removes these.

Data	Retention
Your account record — the sign-in identity itself	Kept, because you asked us to keep the account. Delete it any time via Delete your account.
Deletion audit record	3 years. Contains no personal data — only a one-way hashed account reference, timestamps, and what triggered the deletion. We are required to be able to show that deletion took place.
Records we must retain by law	Kept only where a legal obligation requires it, and only for as long as that obligation lasts.
